More philosophical titles emerged

In the last days of the month with the topic Human I still work with titles from various philosophers. Thoughts or even fragments of utterances are like a springboard to me. I read them while looking at the picture and then my brain jumps in different directions, sent by the words. I wonder if more people experience this effect? I remain curious where this journey of the 365-project will bring me.

365/79 – Doubt as far as possible all things

Circle around the human

After the red month of February I am circulating around the topic of Human in this month. I take a picture of a person or more and then I look for a title that adds at least one dimension to it. In this way the beholder can watch and think. At the moment I am using notions from sciences as philosophy, narratology and sociology. I like this very much. Have a look at the latest 365-posts if you like!

365/72 – Shrinking of the present

New month, new topic

In February I had a topic for the 365: a picture a day-series, which was red. Today is the first of March and I decided to not choose another color, although I was triggered. I chose a different category which gives me both: a focus and freedom. Two very important things in art. The new topic will be: human. I am very curious where this will bring me.

365/60 – Life is not about who you are but who you want to be

A new month

365, Thoughts

Concerning the 365-project: January is filed already, at least my images are. For February I came up with a topic: I am going to take a picture a day containing the colour red. Why is that, one might wonder. Because in the grey, cold month I want to remind me of passion, lust and – why not call it – love. Having a focus is fun. I should try it more often. I did a red month once earlier, when I made my 1000-series and I liked the outcome very much.

On the last day of January I went to Groningen to visit a symposium on The Negotiation of Values in Narrative, which was inspiring to me. I am looking forward how this will effect my future pictures. Because I also am interested in story telling and meta-perspectives. So let’s see, what will rise from that.

Here you see the first picture of February:

The January portrait

Ander licht

Today the 9th portrait of the Ander licht-series was hung. Only three more to go. Then one year will be round. In the meantime the hospital wall already looks like a museum wall, so my mission is obviously accomplished. When one walks along the aisle it is noteable that more and more people look to the displayed faces.

For the January portrait I took a picture of a young doctor on her day off. She had biked to the hospital and when I heard about that I asked her to bike a bit further with me. I try to use a different street every time I shoot an employee, so the streets close to the hospital have been pictured by now. The doctor agreed to that and so we crossed the train tracks and did a very adventurous thing: in order to catch the strong november light we positioned ourselves in the middle of the bus lane. Exciting! All went well: have a look yourself.

The eleventh day

It took me a few days to get used to it but now I am in my new rhythm of taking a picture a day. I know it is nothing sensational just every day life. No big things happen, but I try to add some extra to it. I choose the detail and combine it with some words – and every now and then you get some theatre. 🙂

Do you see it?

Hello 2019!

There it is: the new year. I am full of plans, like always. One of them is to make another 365-series, for a whole year. I know it will be tough: taking the camera with me, meeting my expectations in quality and finding a poetic title for the whole. But the reward will be big: producing a series is like a diary and can be interpreted in a lot of ways, it reveals more about insights of yourself and how you develop. And it freezes all the memories. The good and the ugly ones. In the end you will receive something like the picture here I took on new year’s day: it’s chaotic and confusing, but it is beautiful and retains this one  special moment in time. Wish me luck!
