The bathrobe series are over now

Portraits, The Bathrobe Series

In the last days of August I finished the summer project of 2018: The bathrobe series. I am very happy that a lot of people wanted to take part in it, opened up their gardens for me and my camera, took on their gowns and did pose. It was very much fun to pay the late visits and to play around in the green. Have a look if you like!

I always try to work on a project in summer, because photography works very well for me as a time preserver of this very lush and luscious season. Emily was another such summer project of yesteryear.

Update on summer project

Portraits, The Bathrobe Series

This summer I am working on the Bathrobe Series to catch the feeling of this season in order to keep and cherish it for future colder and darker days. I take portraits of people in their garden wearing a bathrobe. Until the end of August I am collecting pictures for the series. When I finish it I am going to present the pictures on the website of course. For now you can have a little preview at my flickr-stream.

Ander licht, Portraits

It is again the middle of the month which means a new portrait appears at the hospital of Enschede, MST. Ria Oplaat was interviewed for this Ander licht-project about her way to stay motivated for the work. The interview can be read at the spot itself. If you have the chance go visit the hospital and go to the Stiltecentrum.

Ander licht, Portraits

The Ander licht – project at the hospital of Enschede continued. Yesterday we added the next portrait: Jan Leerkotte. He was also pictured at a street close to the hospital on a grey day. The spot this time is a busy junction, where Enschede is appearing in a quite urban way. Again the portrayed person wore his own jacket above his work gown to show him as a employee of the hospital but also as an individual person.

Ander licht will show 12 portraits in total, every month one image will be added. You can see them at the Stiltecentrum of the MST in Enschede.

Summer is here

Thoughts

Only two hours to the beach from our home, why don’t we do this more often? We definitively should! This time family came over from Australia and Canada, hence the little airplane. Digging together in the sand and watching countless aircrafts heading Schiphol coming from the Atlantic. So normal and exceptional at the same time.

A new series for the summer

The Bathrobe Series

Angelika1 (Small)

This summer I am working on a new project: The bathrobe Series. Hortus conclusus. I am taking pictures of people in their own garden. They are wearing a bathrobe, because I very much like the idea of this piece of clothing. It is almost like a harness or armor but soft and private at the same time. I take the pictures very late in the evening when the light of the day is about to bow out. Summer at its best and a good memory for the time when summer will have left us again. I can’t wait what I am going to find.

The second portrait now on display

Ander licht, Portraits

It was about time to add a second portrait of Ander licht  in the hospital. It was a beautiful cold and sunny winter day when I took Kristys portrait. On my way to the hospital to out appointment I had seen the lightened gables. That actually was the moment when I decided to let the city of Enschede play a part in the project as well. In the hospital you can read an interview with Kristy about her work at the radiology department.

I picked up my Katalog der Angst

Last sunday the artist collective KunstNonStop celebrated the closing event of the exposition Discomfort at Hengelo. For six weeks my Katalog der Angst was shown on the walls of the HeArtGallery. I took part and had a very good time. We shared the entrance money so that everyone of the 39 artists received 2,90 €. Most of us donated it to KunstNonStop for more good initiatives to come. In the end I drew my four pictures from the wall and went home by bike.Heimweg
